Concrete, retaining wall, and drainage contractor in Maple Valley, WA

Maple Valley became a city in 1997, and the city’s own housing study says most of its homes date from 1980 or later. The land rolls between roughly 400 and 600 feet around Lake Wilderness, Lake Lucerne, and Pipe Lake. From our base in Federal Way, we build concrete flatwork, retaining walls, and drainage here.

Maple Valley ground, weather, and permits

State geologic mapping of the Maple Valley and Hobart quadrangles calls Vashon till the most widely exposed unit, a compact layer that is highly impermeable and keeps many low spots swampy. The city’s stormwater plan says the surface around Lake Wilderness, Pipe Lake, and Lake Lucerne is mostly till, where drainage problems are common, while recessional outwash elsewhere takes water well. The same plan finds no steep slopes or landslide hazards inside the city limits, though staff track a few unstable spots.

The Economic and Community Development Department handles building permits and critical areas, and the Public Works Director issues right-of-way construction permits. The city’s own list asks owners to make contact before paving, placing gravel, or installing a driveway. Maple Valley runs its own stormwater utility, and the Soos Creek Water and Sewer District serves nearly all of the city, with some areas still on septic. We look up the rules for your parcel first.

Nearby, we also build in Covington, Kent, Renton, and Auburn, and we serve the rest of Pierce and South King County.
