East Renton Highlands ground, weather, and permits
Which soil sits under a given lot is a parcel question, and a test hole answers it better than a regional guess. Where a lot has a dense layer below the topsoil, the federal description of the Alderwood series, which is extensive in western Washington, puts that layer 20 to 40 inches down, with a perched water table at times from December to April. Lots that drop toward a creek or the Cedar River valley add slope and flood questions of their own.
Permits come from the King County Department of Local Services, Permitting Division. Its critical areas rules cover steep slopes, landslide and erosion hazards, coal mine hazards, streams, wetlands, and flood zones, and the county’s iMap shows only the general location of some of them. King County places East Renton in Renton’s potential annexation area, and voters turned down an annexation proposal in 2007, so we confirm which jurisdiction your address falls under first.
Nearby, we also build in Renton, Maple Valley, Newcastle, Issaquah, and Covington, and we serve the rest of Pierce and South King County.
